Yet another local history page!

Yes, I know, there’s loads of pages, websites, books and god knows what else already dedicated to local history, so what I’m essentially doing is polluting what is already a vibrant pool.

With the exception of three years where I lived over in South Yorkshire, I grew up and lived in Calderdale, mainly Luddenden Foot and Hebden Bridge. Growing up here I was always fascinated by the history of the area, from the Gibbet, the Crag Vale Coiners, the role we played in the industrial revolution, the plague, the battles in the civil war and much more events that happened in the area. As a result of my enthusiasm for the history of the valley I decided to create this site, hopefully adding my own twist on the stories that have for a long time interested me.

For me this is mostly a passion project and as such when I find new information I’ll hopefully be regularly updating the stories I put onto here so with that said no story will be absolutely completed so it’s always best to keep checking for updates.
